Ideas, Ideas, Ideas: February

  • Do some Presidential research. Which President was the tallest? Shortest? Largest? Smallest? Best? Worst?
  • List your top 10 Presidents with #1 being the very best.
  • P-R-E-S-I-D-E-N-T-S.  How many Presidents' last names begin with one of these letters?
  • An old weather tale says if a groundhog fails to see his shadow on February 2, there will be an early spring.  If he sees his shadow there will be a late spring.  Read about groundhogs and then discuss whether or not you believe the tale.
  • Billy Bowlegs is famous because he died at 102 on February 13, 1965.  What year was he born?  He was born before the telephone, automobile and airplane were invented.  Name three more things that were invented after he was born.
  • Black History Month is celebrated in February.  Make a class list of Black Americans of Achievement.  Select one person from the list and write about his/her achievements.
