January 9, 1953- The United Nations opened its headquarters in New York City.

January 12, 1966- Batman debuted on television.

January 13, 1928- Ernst F.W. Alexanderson gave the first public demonstration of television.

January 15, 1967-The first National Football League Super Bowl was played. The Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 35-10.

January 17, 1806- James Madison Randolph, grandson of President Thomas Jefferson, was the first child born in the White House.

January 20, 1885- The roller coaster was patented by L.A. Thompson

January 22, 1984- Apple introduced the Macintosh computer. It was the first computer to use point-and-click technology.

January 23, 1971- The lowest temperature ever recorded in the U.S. was reported on this day in Prosepect Creek camp, Alaska-minus 80 degrees Fahrenheit!

January 25, 1961- President John F. Kennedy presented the first live presidential news conference from Washington, D.C.

January 27, 1926- John Baird, a Scottish inventor, demonstrated a pictorial transmission machine called television.

January 29, 1900- The American Baseball league was organized in Philadelphia. it consisted of eight teams.

January 31, 1990- McDonald's opened its first restaurant in Moscow, Russia.
