The American Girl company asked fans to nominate a real-life frontline worker they know, and five were chosen to get their own, one-of-a-kind doll.
One of the 'Frontline Heroes' chosen was Pam, a teacher who didn't let the coronavirus shutdown stop her from connecting with students.
Although American Girl did not provide any personal details on Pam, including where she is from, they did detail why she was chosen.
When the coronavirus pandemic shut down schools nationwide, Pam personally delivered a bag of books to the homes of each of her students. "Even though we didn't get to finish our school year, our teacher showed us learning can take you anywhere in the world," one of her students said.
Among the other "Frontline Heroes" chosen to get a doll were: Laurent, a pilot for Spirit Airlines; April, a paramedic from Virginia; Xavier, a 17-year-old who worked at a grocery store to help his family; and Sarah, a caregiver who also feeds the homeless.
Although the dolls will not be available for sale to the public, many fans on social media are asking that the dolls or the outfits be made available for purchase. American Girl responded to those requests, saying they are aware of the demand and will consider the interest.
