Ideas, Ideas, Ideas: March

  • Green is the color for St. Patrick's Day.  Think of a St. Patrick's Day dinner where only green foods are served.  Make a class list of vegetables, fruits and dessert.
  • The vernal equinox arrives the third week of March each year.  What is the vernal equinox?  Record what you do on that day.  Visit http://www.windows.ucar.edu/tour/link=/the_universe/uts/equinox.html&edu=mid for  details.  This website gives explaination on 3 levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced)
  • Have you ever eaten fried chicken purchased at KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken)?  The chain serves 8 million people a day in 80 countries.  How many will they serve in March?  April?
  • Scientists have said experiments show crows and jays to be the most intelligent of all birds.  Do some research on these "bird brains."
  • People are not the only creatures that build homes.  Describe a bird's nest, a beaver's home, a wasp's nest and a bee's home.  Name some other animals in your community and how they build their homes.
