Palindrome: a word that is spelled the same forward or backward.

Example: mom and toot

Introduce this activity by asking the following questions:

• What is another name for father? (dad)
• What sound does a baby chick make? (peep)
• What sound does a balloon make when it bursts? (pop)
• What body part can see? (eye)
• What do you call the time in the middle of the day? (noon)

Challenge your students daily with this activity.
Mount a chart similar to this in your classroom.
Along side of it you can also create a "$100 Word Club Poster."
When students create a word worth $100, place their name and word in the "Club"!
